I know you want an XSI solution but I highly recommend UVLayout from
CySlice
http://www.uvlayout.com/
http://www.uvlayout.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=50
http://www.uvlayout.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=38
And at $175 per floating license, it's a bargain. This is pretty much
all we use for UV layouts now. We don't even bother with doing Uvs
without it.

Subject: Re: Kneading UVs in XSI
Not quite. I'm looking for a tool that takes a selection of (potentially
overlapping) UVs and spaces them out optimally according to the topology
of the model, but without the overlaps. A Relax function that avoids
overlaps, if you will. DeepUV can do it, but in this case I want to do
it in XSI (if possible).
