I’ve been in contact with Mark over
the last couple of days, and at the moment the culprit seems to be a worm virus
which somehow has made its way onto his non-internet-connected DS computer.
Symantec doesn’t even have a patch for this one yet but Mark’s
hoping it’s on the way.

Mark,
You have lost the project root reference. This can be restored by using the
"Add Project Root" function by pointing to the 7.01 shared project
folder on f:\ in the DS Projects folder, and I believe on 7.01, you may have to
use the "Change Workgroup" function and point to each project within
the project folder to add them to your project list.
We have seen 7.5 create projects on the System (C:\) drive. We know how it
happens, we don't know why it happens. It happens when (this is rare, but
has happened on several DS systems) you open a new project and the project
location path field is blank instead of having the correct path. With no path,
the DS creates the project on the C:\ partition in the root director. This can
be moved to the proper directory, but it does seem to confuse the project
indexer until you correct it.

Hi all,
This morning, after months and months of flawless operation, my DS v7.01 Qfe3
on Compaq decided to behave strangely. I booted up the program and no
projects showed up. Restarted the computer and things seemed to be
fine. Then I tried to save a change to a sequence and it told me I
couldn't save outside the project, that my projects file had either become unshared
or was being shared by more than it was supposed to. Checked the sharing
properties, everything seemed in order, restarted and now I'm back to no
projects showing up in the project window. Unfortunately, I just drive
these things, I don't build 'em so I've reached the end of my knowledge.
As I am a very small shop I am also running outlaw (no assurance) so I'm just
checking to see if any of you on the list have experienced the same thing and
might know how I can remedy my problem. My apologies in advance to the
guys at tech support because I think you're the best, but the DS (at least my
DS) has been so bulletproof that I let the assurance lapse. I've been on
this thing since Version 2 and this is the first time the thing has acted like
this. Maybe its confused...or maybe its the operator. A little fog
in the cockpit.
Thanks in advance for any help.
