It's pretty easy to use. Highlight a section of audio track onto which
you want to place tone (it can be used as a track effect without any
media beneath it). Apply the effect (Audio Effects > Tone Generator).
Set the parameters you want to use - level and frequency. That's it.

If the default values aren't what you use all the time you can either
save over the default with your own preset or save another preset with
your desired settings. Make sure you save the preset in the Factory
effects folder or you'll never find it again. To find the Factory
folder, pull down the menu on the little folder-with-arrow icon on the
Save Preset dialog page, and select Factory. You should be in the folder
"Program Files\Avid\DS v7.x\DSPresets\Audio Effects." Putting the effect
there will place it on the Audio Effects menu near the timeline.

Subject: Tone Generator?

Hi,

I'm going to ask a really basic and probably stupid question....but I've
never used this function before. How do you generate tone? I noticed
it
under Audio Effects, but can't find any documentation on this in either
the
help or in the manual. (Maybe I just can't work an index) =)~ I think
this
has been discussed before, but I can't access the thread archives
because it
says something about the site re-indexing. Can anyone help me out with
this? Thanks so much!
