Andi -- you need to go back and check. Many times someone else
has mentioned Vegas as well as other 3rd party alternatives for things
DS can't do. I bought my first copy of Vegas on ebay for $200 4
yrs ago, and it's been the best swiss army knife of all things video
and audio that I've ever found. Were it not for Vegas, I
couldn't get half the stuff in/out that I need with the DS. (Am I
the only one who have wacky clients that bring the strangest stuff in
to edit?).
So -- it's not a replacement for DS, but it sure as heck makes a super
tool to enhance the DS. Besides, it's only $600 new in a box.
And here's another one for ya: there are those on the Avid development team who are huge fans of Vegas. ;-)
OK -- so it's probably obvious to everyone that the DS is rendering right now... :-)
I'm happy -- I'm getting 3 hours of sleep straight at a time now!
WooHoo! The new baby and family came and had lunch with me here at the
office yesterday. She's just over a week old now and is Daddy's
pride and joy. (VP of technology from Sony already asked me to get a
picture of her with her hand on the keyboard in front of Vegas to
caption "Training the Next Generation.").
