when first using this generator, and calibrating my DS with my DigiBeta and HD decks, the AES output was hot, so the first thing was to check to make sure the tone out of the DS was calibrated properly. when you double click on the effect, the output is set to -18...this is akin to the gain effect...it defaults to the EBU standard -18, we in America use -20 as our tone reference, so just adjust the level to -20, and click the save effect button, then if you overwrite the file, every time from that moment forward, your tone output level will be -20, and your mix will be calibrated correctly, assuming you mix in DS, and not hand off the tape to an audio guy to lay back his mix to tape

Hi Joe!
Got it working now. Could you elaborate a little on what you said about the
audio level being set to -20? I'm glad you said something. No one around
here has ever told me about the standard. Is there some place that I could
do some reading about why -20 db and such? I'm always interested to learn
more about the standards set for video and audio.
Thanks!
Becky
