Well I guess I'll pre-empt ball busting next time I send an email to the
list...I was only joking and apologize for any angst I may have caused.

Tim,
you are right in stating that there are many "cheaper" solutions that
can fix issues that DS should be abel to do. There are people, even
inside Avid, who argue that DS is a "professional" tool and because of
that shall not have things like Firewire inputs, something that others,
including myself think is totally wrong. In a perfect world there
shouldn't be need for Vegas'es or other fixes if you are an owner of a
DS. Until then I suppose I will haver to swallow my pride and listen to
Vegas-preaching even on this list.
Congratulations to you and your family for your newborn. I'm a proud
father since almost ten months myself (as is Murf). The once tiny little
baby is now rummaging arround wanting us to help her walk on and off
through our house, checking each and every corner, over and over. It's
high time to move all things to an unreachable height now.
The first three months were the hardest, getting used to fixing
everything even without proper sleep, and especially getting used to
that there is a new force setting the pace at home. Not very much time
to yourself for the forseable future, I'm sorry.
Good luck
Andi
