Pretty much "Dittos" on examining my attitude over the 4th.However you
view the struggle for independence [or rebellion ] it was bought and
paid for with many tears and much bloodshed.

I would be blessed to see peace during my lifetime but am not
optimistic. For the type of enemy we battle today any peaceful overtures
are simply openings for attack. They shake one hand to make a "pact"
while they slip the knife in your ribs with the other.

Happy 5th of July!

2 years ago I remember reflecting on this 4th of July day from
Washington
State. This year I get to watch this celebration of freedom from this
nations capitol in Washington DC. To see the monuments, memorials, and
statues is impacting but what they represent to me is sacrifice,
struggle
and determination to maintain freedom at ultimate cost of so many lives.

We may want a lot of things in our software etc, but in the shadow of
those
that gave their lives for our freedom we celebrate today, software seems
like kind of small issue.
