Hi Francis  I'll keep on adding questions on this subject!

When we shoot in HDCam we have maybe 40 tapes with TC from 1 to 23 and starting again from 1.

Shooting in Viper we have no tape name. We could use ubits for that, but will nitris be able to read any type of ubits while importing DPX or only timecodes would be read ?

BTW: Is it in the plans to make the VGA output 4:4:4

Thanks,
Nacho

"Can I output 4:4:4 to a computer monitor through the HD VGA output in Nitris?"

Nope. External video output is only possible through HD 4:2:2 proxies. Your sequence will be 4:4:4 but the monitoring will be 4:2:2.

Francis,

My subject was unclear, or to be more exact wrong!
What I wanted yesterday was to link files as tone explained me, but I thought I was doing something wrong becasuse some were RT and some not.

Right now I'm downloading the DPX from the director friend, and I'll start trying

We'll start trying everything right now and post tons and tons of stupid questions like:

Can I output 4:4:4 to a computer monitor through the HD VGA output in Nitris?

Thanks,
Nacho

Hi Nacho,
I am responsible for the quality assurance of the conform features of DS. I'd like to have more information on your workflow because I do not quite understand your request.

1- The subject line of your thread starts with "Conforming a DPX..." but you only mention that you need "to link DPXs to Nitris". Do you really want to conform a project offlined in another product into DS ?

2- And re-link events to DPXs files instead of whatever video format you used for offlining the project ?

3- Or do you simply want to use the dpx files from the camera drive into ds like any other image sequences?

If you want to achieve #3 Tony's method is the best. The first and second are only possible with EDLs or EDLs and ALEs so far.

4:4:4 realtime playback is achievable if these 3 conditions are met:

1- Your DPX are on a realtime DS storage, not on the camera drive.
2- They are all "aligned". To align DPXs that aren't, use the FIXDPX.exe application present in your DS 7.x program files folder.
3- They are linked. Not captured.

Hope this will help. Please post if you are successful.
