A suggestion – if you’re considering SR then you are already dealing with a tethered camera. Why not use a D5? They use much less compression than HDCAM while recording 422 HD at a reasonable data rate. Unless you are planning on using the 444 capability of SR it has minimal advantages over D5 and D5 will give you a much more flexible post path ( D5 decks still more popular than SR).

If you REALLY want to minimize compression artifacts – we’d be happy to provide a D6 (uncompressed 422) for you ;-)

I’m not sure if I understand you. I think my questions:

If I shoot and record to SR tape, and then I rent a SR deck and digitize from the SR tape thru the DH SDI output, I will have better quality image?

For what I understand the SR tape is, if you record not in 4:4:4 but in 4:2:2 is much better than the 3:1:1 of the HDCAM… but it would be good to know if some one already tried it.
