It does use GOP MPEG2 or is it too late to change the course of events? Which is it. It may not be too late to get Sony to reconsider. I think the primary reason they would do that is media compatibility. I suppose it still works at "uncompressed" in the DigiBeta compression mode for SD or will it even shoot SD?

Thanks

Howard,

It uses long GOP MPEG2, very much like HDV.

Revised: Rumors I have heard about the XDCAM/HD version:

The price for the camera will be about the same as for the XDCAM SD
It will use 1/3" or 1/2" target chips  [cant remember]
It will work at 4:2:2, full 1920x1080  [who knows?]
It will use the same style media with back compatibility as the XDCAM

What have you folks heard or seen concerning the XD/HD format? I know
some of you have used XDCAM.

Anything at Siggraph?

Howard
