I assumed (oops) that it would be the big NBC Screen but as
you point out there are a myriad of other possibilities. Going back today
to do some more homework - thanks.

If you
are talking about the screen at the foot of Times Square with the NBC peacock on
it, it's standard NTSC. There are a whole passle of other screens with varying
formats though.

week or so ago the question of the Times Square screen came up and I'm still
wondering if anyone knows if it uses a special setup or standard SD
video. Again, it looks like a 3x4 screen. Gotta spot that will be
running there later this year (I think) but I'm just the editor - I'm so far
down the totem pole that my spine has been crushed to a few inches in length.
Nonetheless, I am hoping someone might know or know someone who knows what the
requirements for the Times Square screen are.
