viewer slow reaction time

7.6 qfe2 nitris hw8000...

when we pull a clip into the preview viewer it takes
like 10 sec before you can do anything with it. like
it hangs up and then refreshes and then its ready.

if you pull it straight into the timeline it works
right away like normal.
