Hi Dom,

Thanks for that.  I don't know what's going on but it's been behaving itself for a whole day now.  Fingers crossed that the evil spirit has passed on to somewhere else, otherwise I may have to do what you suggest.

John

Hi John,

You're having exactly the problems I had when I bought an ex-demo Nitris 4 months ago.
The Avid tech tried everything, replacing the CPU mother board trying a hard drive from another Nitris.
I think the problem was resolved when a complete reinstall of the Nitris software was done. From the ground up.
Try this as a last resort as it's time consuming as hell and if it doesn't work you'll want my head...

I've had some trouble with playback on my Nitris.
In the source or record monitor, when hitting play the video will almost freeze, updating about every two seconds.  The play button (>) goes red and then the Nitris bongs and I get an video Hal error message.  Digitising is also impossible whilst having this problem.
At present, a cold start of the whole system has fixed this, but it hasn't always.  It has been bothering me periodically for the past few days.
From within disk management, I did notice a yellow ! icon on one of the disks of my array.  The disk was marked as having online errors.  This icon and message went away when we chose to "reactivate" the disk from within disk management.  I'm not sure if this has fixed the problem but I don't think that this was the cause as the DS was having the same problem playing back media from a different array.
Any ideas what the issue might be?
Thanks, it's such a fag having to re-start and wait for the indexer etc etc,
John
