Matt,

I've been with this system since 1998 on v2.1.  While it has been an investment of time (to learn) and money the system has met the needs of the organization where I work.  As a matter of fact, it has done things that exceeded expectations.  I'm not happy about how Avid has treated their "HD Flagship," but I have been happy with the work I've been able to create using DS and I find it superior to MC in so many ways.

On the other hand, I can understand your frustration if sales people over-promised and under-delivered.  At the time I bought (when it was Softimage), I was definitely under-promised and over-delivered.  In the past 3-4 years,  I would have to say the opposite has been more of the norm - unfortunately.  I get upset when I hear people like Tone say that they were ignored by Avid management.  How can they ignore their most vocal evangelist?

I have had great support from Montreal (still under-promising and over-delivering) and a few others like Jeff Krueger and Kent Clark who have gone the extra mile making sure that I was a satisfied customer.

I hope your sales people did not dupe you.   I do not feel duped but rather saddened and disappointed by the perceived attitudes from Avid.

Have we all been horribly duped? Has this been four years of wasted time? Money? Etc.?

Once you see what Symphony Nitris will do to DS in the marketplace, you will realize why Avid refuses to go down this road.  Though we love DS, it is of little concern to Avid what we think and what we want for DS's future.  They are playing a waiting game and watching DS work itself out of the market rather than flat out killing it off right away so they don't take the lion share of the blame and the backlash won't be as brutal.  But trust me, they'll feel it soon enough.  And companies like AutoDesk are laughing all the way to the bank.  We were just offered by a reseller new Adrenaline systems with "free" DNxHD boards.  It's pretty freakin' sad when you have to start giving sh*t away.

DS will never have a future.

Time to look elsewhere.
