I've been asked this even for a UK project. Obvious consequence of losing half your vetical resolution - but also it's very tricky to translate all the info from offline to online (if that is your workflow). I suggested that during the shoot you have a slowmo reel. You then take that whlole reel into DS (60i project), deinterlace then drop this into a 24p project (i think the shortcut is 'f' for frame to frame mapping - ie slowing the footage down again). Then playout this long sequence to a 24p tape for use in the offline. This will give you the best looking results with minimum cockup error. Also the deinterlace is very quick to process - not sure how long the 60i(or 30p) to 24p conversion takes though...
