thom,
you could just play the tape back at 50% speed in a deck that's set to
23.98. and record to another deck or directly into your DS.
this looks as good / probably better than any deinterlace effect you
could do. i think you will want "dynamic motion control" on in your
deck settings when playing back.
good luck.

Hello all,
My client is asking me to perform a process which I'll call a "1080 Vari-cam".
Our final product will be a 1080 Psf 23.98 master.
They shot some scenes at 59.94i with the intention of using them "field for frame" to create an acceptable fixed rate slo-mo.
My workflow has been to capture the footage from 59.94 HDCam into a 59.94 project, deinterlace the clip in a timeline (to print field for frame), export the timeline as a .gen file and import into a 23.98 project. Then, output to 23.98 HDCam tape for downconversion into the offline.
I'm working on ver. 7.6 QFE 2.
Any tricks or easier workflow ideas out there? I'm not really clear on how 7.6 handles frame rate conversions and mixing and matching framerates on the same timeline.
Thanx,
Thom
