Just to issue a correction on one of the previous postings. As I understand
it, Panasonic advanced pull down is 3:2:2:3, not like the aforementioned
3:3:2:2 or whatever. And no, it is not only useful for firewire drives.

It is useful if you plan on converting back to full 24(23.98) fps. It does
Not have an interframe like normal 3:2 would give you between the B an C
frame
.
There's a great explanation of advanced pull down, I think on 24p.com. If I
was to do a shoot, where my final was HD 23.98 or film, I would MOST
definitely shoot advanced pulldown, you get all your frames back.

It's really a no brainer once you grasp the concept of it.

However, make sure you can decode it, and have the gear for the total time
of capture, cause there's not to many decks I know of that can deal with it.

Just my 2¢.

Marc
