Here Here... We do exactly that. We take SDI from live feeds over fiber or downlink into a Evertz 8010TM SDI Time Code Reader/Generator that decodes VITC time code to LTC and then we insert that into one of those "cheap ;-) " Horita TCI-50 Reader RS-422 Inserters. This allows us to capture "live" material into a DS (Equinox) via the RS-422 port without a deck connected. Without the latest software revisions, DS would not show actual time code when captured this way. Now you can see the real time time code as you capture instead of wondering if the clip started at 00:00:00:00 - instead of the true time code - which could only be verified after you stopped capturing - ouch! Captures done this way allow for "re-captures" from tape copies since the code does match. This is a big time saver when quick repairs must be made to a live show that that airings in other time zones and repeat airings later that same day. Tom Edwards MTV Networks Sylvain Labrosse wrote:
