1: This is only my experience, but I saw that the DS copy the project folder to the RP machine, I guess to save some loading time after the project is loaded for the first time, but I don’t know why, it do not copy all the files some times. This is also a problem if you use to store your heavy graphic files in to the project folder, (I use to create a folder GXF and store all the TIFF and PSD files on it) because the DS will take long time to copy all the files to the RP, even if you are not using all the files on that folder.

2: you are moving the footage thru a network I guess, so it is normal that will take more time that if the footage is local.

3: May be related to the point 1? Are you storing the graphics files in the DS project folder? Is your network fast? Gigabit or better?

Subject: Nitris Issues

We have been using the DS for about 4 years. But we recently upgraded to the Nitris hardware, including the remote processing, and we are on version 7.6 software. Since the upgrade we have been experiencing a few things that don't seem right. So we have a few questions:

1. When using remote processing, do the DS projects live on the local computer or the remote processing computer? We have been told both.

2. When using the remote processing, is the time needed to process something more than if you were processing locally? Obviously we can still work while processing remotely, but the actual processing time has been significantly more when doing it remotely as opposed to locally. Is that correct?

3. When we import graphics, it takes, literally, 10 minutes to import even a minute or two of files. Is that correct? The importing time is significantly more since the upgrade.

Please let me if anyone has insight into these issues.

Thanks

John Lux
