My bad... I got that from Tone's reply, too.

Hi Russ, check out the local drives of your RP when rendering, you will see that the RP has copied big part of the project to the local drive. At least is what happens with my RP

I'm only now upgrading to v7.6, but the first two questions really have nothing to do with the version. See below.

Subject: Nitris Issues

We have been using the DS for about 4 years. But we recently upgraded to the Nitris hardware, including the remote processing, and we are on version 7.6 software. Since the upgrade we have been experiencing a few things that don't seem right. So we have a few questions:

1. When using remote processing, do the DS projects live on the local computer or the remote processing computer? We have been told both.

RG> The project never moves - it stays where ever you've stored it. The only thing that moves are the media files that are transfered to the RP for processing, and them the rendered files are stored back on your media drives.

2. When using the remote processing, is the time needed to process something more than if you were processing locally? Obviously we can still work while processing remotely, but the actual processing time has been significantly more when doing it remotely as opposed to locally. Is that correct?

RG> Processing time is dependent on the speed of the computer being used to do the processing. If your DS is on an HP XW8000 dual processor 3.0ghz as mine is, but are using an old IBM Z Pro with dual 700mhz processors, it's going to be alot slower...

3. When we import graphics, it takes, literally, 10 minutes to import even a minute or two of files. Is that correct? The importing time is significantly more since the upgrade.

RG> Definitely does not sound right, unless they're HD files or you're importing them across a slow network connection. What type of files are they, and where are they coming from?

Please let me if anyone has insight into these issues.

Thanks

John Lux
