Oh, AND the time constraint of having to Timewarp by guessing and then
having to completely render the HD sequence just to see how it works in the
SD sequence (otherwise you get the 'referenced sequence needs processing' so
you can't even check a single frame).
And I remember the issue was differing frame rates in the sequences, the
workaround that Bob is suggesting WILL work if you use the same frame rate
in your HD sequence that you are using in your SD sequence, even if the HD
footage is a different frame rate than the SD/HD sequences. DS won't let you
combine different frame rate SEQUENCES but you can put your 24p HD material
into a 30i HD sequence, Timewarp, process, use as reference in your 30i SD
sequence.
Doesn't solve the original problem of interactivity, although you could
bring your whole effect into the 30i HD sequence and do it there and then
reference it back into your SD cut I suppose...better but still not optimal.
