i have ran DS with out hardware before...

when installing the software use the "custom" and uncheck any missing cards

used it to troubeshoot back in V4.01, have not had the need to since then

Caveat - i am running on old memory as to when to select the "custom" option, 
but it was on one of the first few pages when installing

and yes it does mean re-instaling the software.. oh so much fun on NT4
