Yeah, umm... 'probably' ;-)

Archive/Restore works absolutely flawlessly within the same version, but is only guaranteed to work back one version. I guess the theory is that if you're diligently upgrading every new release, then you only ever need to go back one version. Of course, that doesn't take into account the project you forgot that's now come back to bite you three DS versions later. (Nor does it take into account Ol' Betsy users who might finally bite the bullet and upgrade ;-))

I've done restores across three versions before now and they worked of a fashion. All the edits come across, but graphics need tweaking (or rebuilding) and there might be all sorts of other strange niggles. The problem is that the deep down DS base architecture can change quite drastically between versions. Modules get completely rewritten from the ground up, new workflows make old ones redundant, etc. That's why it's so hard for the Devs to achieve backwards compatibility between archives.
