Hi Pete,
Sounds like you want to "capture" with the right settings - not link.
Try "Center, Scale to Fit" or "Center - Keep Original Size." Link allows
you to have a larger picture you can move around.
If I understand you correctly your best bet is to create a 16x9 sequence
do all your editing and then drop that sequence into a 4x3 sequence and
render. The 16x9 is "realtime" just like a 4x3 - just a different
aspect ratio. The rendering only takes place (other than non-realtime
effects) when you need to start stretching things or reducing things.

Subject: 16x9 SD
Hi all,
My questions are kinda making my head spin, so hopefully I can ask them
in a form that you can understand.
I am doing a SD project w/ SD video sources, and importing graphics that
are 1024x576 from an outside company. Now, my first question is: When I
try to link the graphics into my 16x9 NTSC sequence I cannot get the
right combination of capture settings (center, keep original size; pixel
ratio) etc... I've tried I think every combination and the graphic,
which is true 16x9 by calculations, is importing alot larger. I then
have to DVE the linked file to 71% size to make it fit my 16x9 frame.
What am I missing to link the clip directly as a true 16x9 clip so I
don't have to DVE it.
My other question is that I want to cut my piece on a 4x3 timeline for
ease of not haveing to render every other minute. My test so far is
throwing me off. I cut a 5sec. test clip on a 4x3 seq. and generated a
timeline to clip. Then dragged that linked clip onto a 16x9 seq.
Everything is fine, threw a DVE on that clip and could slide on Y axis
with lots of head and foot room. Kinda like an HD clip on a SD seq. Now
what was weird is just for shits and giggles, I dragged a clip that was
not linked to my 4x3 seq. (but still in my root project) on to the 16x9
seq. and the top and bottom get cropped with black outside the viewer..
I put a DVE on it and unchecked the output to size option and cranked
the Y axis and it looked like it wanted to show me all the frame but it
didn't. Just black. I've even rebooted. No change.
Any suggestions will help. 7.6 qfe2 nitris
Thanks,
Pete
