To the best of my knowledge Convergent aren't yet shipping.
Following on from a meeting with Miranda at IBC yesterday it would appear
that, as Pat originally posted, the ball is in Avid's court to get the
machine control working accurately. The technicalities of the situation
are such that I can't see what else Miranda can do to make it work.
Perhaps Convergent have a clever secret approach, but I doubt it.
Unfortunately I didn't get to see Convergent at IBC because they weren't
listed in the Manufacturers' directory and I left the details of whose
stand they were sharing at work :-/
So where we're at currently is:
Miranda's box is working and has been shipping for two weeks, although
it doesn't work accurately with DS
Convergent's box isn't yet shipping and I have my doubts as to its
ability to work accurately with DS. In fairness, I must point out that
I base that opinion on a knowledge of the difficulties, not any
experience with Convergent Design (because they don't wish me to beta
test for them).
Regards,
Tone :)
