If DS is to be serious about DI and color correction in general, I think it needs some very simple changes that make it more DaVinci like:

Easy power windows and kilovectors.  Yeah you can make them with a matte piped into a color corrector and a keyer piped into a color corrector, but to move quickly, I feel they should work more seamlessly.  Of course if they'd add the ability to create true Custom UI's for node trees we could make great ones ourselves.

But I'm a DS newb so I could be missing something.

Hi Rich.

The comment (or announcement) that DS was to

'become the DI box' appears to have been a

hastily-dreamed-up-on-the-spur-of-the-moment

announcement for NAB.

It's not been mentioned since, and if it's the

case, why was DS completely absent from BOTH of

the Avid stands (Hall 1 and Hall 7) whereas Phony

Nitris was in appearance on both, billed on both

occasions as "The world's most powerful HD

Editor" (which of course is complete bullsh1t

because DS is way more powerful).

Any improvements made in the DI workflow side of

DS will have no impact on the rest of its

operation. Rather, it will simplify some

operations (such as DS's handling of file sources).

Regards,

Tone :)

I know the concerns are that the DS "seems" to be

could someone explain exactly (and pardon my

and its workflow that the DS is "supposed" to

become?

And if that does happen will it affect the present

capabilities, tools and what the DS is right now

(that

we all know and love)? Thanks.

Avid just can't say anything now.........

And beside this List is monitored by the

Competition.

The Giant seems quiet but he's not.

What play against them is Time.

Are WE going to wait for it?

That is the real question.

Can you still be Competitive NOW without 3D

Compositing Environment and

no Planar Tracker and other crucial Features?

How much longer the Users on this List are going

to

wait?

How much longer the Users on this List can wait

without glimpse of the

Future?

These are the real question, the rest is

irrelevant.

This is Marketing and Management Job, not mine

or

Tony to do.

Tone and I, are asking Avid to move and they

don't.

Let's hope they know what they're doing and they

won't have lost too

much Market Share to the Competition.

How many of you have lost Faith in DS and Avid?

I'm afraid the vast majority of the Users has,

and we certainly can't blame you!

Maybe AVID should do an Official Poll with this

question:

Do you believe that AVID can compete

(Pricing/Features) in the

Middle-High End Editing Market, in a short/long

term?

Each day that passes, makes this Community more

anxious and confused.

Is 64 bits and DI workflow is what you're all

waiting for?

Have a good DS Day!

Tony,

I know, you said on Saturday night... (hope you

weren't too much of a

mess

on Sunday) But, it was an effort for you to be

told

what you were, and

you

alone... It doesn't bode well... This year DS

truly

was the "ginger

stepchild" at the family reunion... And if the

future is so bright, why

aren't Avid handing the shades and sunscreen

that is

specifications/road

maps... Call me a traditionalist but, I'd like

to

know where it's going

before spending anymore money on it...

Especially as

Avid's attitude to

the

product/user base is in stark contrast to other

manufacturers the

majority

of whom are more than willing to enter into

dialogue

with present and

potential customers, which is quite

refreshing...

Cheers

Timon

There was no DS on either of the Avid stands

(What

kind of message does

that

project?), and only one in the demo suites

upstairs... alongside 7/8 BS

Nitrii, and sitting in there, it felt like

being

the first arrivals at

a

fellow

DS'ers all over the

Autodesk stand...

I was told by the DS demo artist, and the sales

monkey that they

believed

v8

would be out around the end of the year and

that it

would be 64bit...

and

they could tell me nothing else about it,

despite

being assured by the

aforementioned sales monkey, that they would be

showing v8 at the show

three

weeks earlier... I have to say that it does

seem

odd, that if you are

going

to release it towards the end of the year, then

surely you'd want to

display

it, at the one big trade show before next years
