Or in Graphics, select a zero-alpha black Color Blend as your fill and
paint away. The black will be the hole. Be sure to use the Reconnect
Viewer function to see what you're doing.
There's also a Reveal effect (select it rather than Color Blend) which I
find less useful; I prefer to use a zero-alpha black and force
premultiplication.

Lots of ways possible.  One that comes to mind:

put v1 above v2

put a Matte effect on it.  Create the shape in Matte effect.
