I assume the Pro Tools are MAC OSX systems?
You could try DAVE from Thursby software. It emulates the Netbios over
ethernet so you can browse and exchange files with the Windows PCs
without the need for ftp transport. http://www.thursby.com/
Actually, PC networking is built into Mac OS X. Go to the sharing
control panel and click the "Windows Sharing" check-box. Log in from
your PC with your Mac OS username and password.
The "Connect to server..." menu in the Finder (or any place in the
system that lets you use a URL) lets you connect to shares on windows
machines as well.
I use it all the time. Between XP and Mac OS X, the gigabit ethernet
performance is excellent and has really improved my workflow.
(Sending 50GB files back and forth. :-)
