Side bar for Sylvain could you tell me if the DSHD (non nitris) hardware boards will run in the XW8200 and what graphics board is recommended.

Mmmm.  Gary, I am a bit concerned by that statement:

" Nitris has issues with the IP address changing "

That is because the Nitris hardware itself couldn't care less about networking at all.

What you certainly mean is that Avid DS can get disturbed in its operation due to IP address changes, and this is perfectly true.

The issue is actually its Avid Media and Project Indexing services that require a bit of care and specific settings to operate correctly.  And this requires that you feed the workstation with either a static IP address, or an address from a server (DNS or Domain controller, as long as it is the same renewed address).

If you don't follow this rule and a few others, you will get indexing errors and messages when you start the application, and you should NOT ignore them and use projects and media.

For more information, the above is documented in the Installation Guide and also on the Avid DS Support Center in the Troubleshooting  section.

Tom,

Thanks for the recommendation.

Yes, the ProTools is Mac based system and the rest of the edit rooms here are HP/Windows PC?s. We?re just interested in sending OMF files (from the Nitris) onto the server and have our Audio wizard grab them.

As you may know ? the Nitris has issues with the IP address changing, so this sounds like a better solution. The Symphony had no problems as a NT based system.

Thanks for your time.

Gary
