Are you sure the Media Creation setting is set to the same codec as your sequence?
(i.e. 2:1, 1:1, etc.)  Sounds like a mixed resolutions warning rather than an unsupported QT codec for import.

That message means that the imported media was imported to a different AVID codec than the one you are using in the current sequence.  If QT can see it then the Symph should be able to see it.  Symp. will just convert the QT to an Avid rez anyway like 2:1 or 1:1, etc.  So it shouldn't matter what the QT codec is.

Forgive me if you've already tried this, but that's what it sounds like to me...

did you have the symphony DV hardware installed in your system? It is a

surprised your Mac Symphony did not come with it..

Sure, but I was just wondering how to make Avid play with a codec that's
already on the box, or why it can't.

Hi Paul,

Can't you just use QT Pro to output them as wrapped Uncompressed QTs and

get

Symph to digest them that way?

Good luck,

Here's an aside that google hasn't been too helpful with and our
Symphony guy has futilely asked for my help.

Client's brought in a firewire drive with his footage in DVCPRO codec
quicktimes that were digitized in Final Cut.  The Symphony mac machine
can play the files in QuickTime just fine, but trying to import them
into the Symphony results in the WRONG FORMAT being displayed on screen.

How do we get the Avid to recognize the codec that's already on the box?
