Tri-Level Sync is the prefered genlock signal for HD
equipment. It provides more accurate timing tolerances
and should be used whenever possible.
For certain HD formats, including yours(1080i/59.94)
most manufacturers designed their gear to lock to
standard Black Burst(sometimes called Bi-Level).
There are instances where you can't get away without
Tri-level sync, for instance when you use an HDCAM
F500 deck to perform a 3:2 pulldown.
