Hi Tim,

Good point!  I was thinking of a 16:9 sequence moving to 4:3 (if it were linked - you would shrink both 75%).  An anamorphic 16:9 you shrink the Y axis 75 and leave the X at 100.  I appreciate the catch.

Either shrink the y to 75 for a 16x9 letterbox or expand the x by 1.333 for a full height 4x3

One or the other but not both.

Hi Jason,

I believe it would be a DVE of 75% (both Horizontal and Vertical).  Not sure

why that sticks in my head.  You could also put a 16:9 mask on it and size

it until it fits the mask correctly.

Subject: 16:9 to 4:3

Hey all,

I have a piece of video shot 16:9 in the field.  I want to keep it 16:9 but

use it on a 4:3 monitor.  Can someone tell me the exact DVE setting to

shrink the 16:9 image to a 4:3?

Thanks in advance.
