All I can say my friend is “ya really really get what you pay for”.

 

We have done several experiments with the whole HDV format and the best I can say is it looks better then up-rez’ed BCSP.  However the biggest downside is that inevitably most things we do in HD are destined to be aired in SD at some point and HDV does not downconvert well.

 

Good Luck with your project, but if I were to counsel a client on the use of HDV, I would have to suggest that they don’t use it for principle photography, second unit MAYBE, but not for the whole show.
