Adding Drives Mid Project

Subject : Adding Drives Mid Project

We are in the middle of a project and need to up our storage. 1080p 23.98 Uncompressed 10bit. We presently have one 12 bay chassis with 12 146 Gig Drives. Can we add another chassis with 6 or 8 drives or do we have to add another 12 drives? Also, what are the chances that we can mix a 3rd Party drive manufacture chassis and drives (such as Kingston Storcase) with our current Avid drive configuration?
