this is a problem with this kind of large system and this is where the Avid 101, 201 and 301 education will help.

It is one of my great gripes about the documentation provided by most of the major software vendors these days.

If you just read the DS doc provided when you receive the system you will never know many of the details of what the software does. And the details are where most of the power resides. The corner pinning tracker is a good example. In the doc for the tracker, not all the info needed to actually use the tool is present. The PDF mentioned or the training manual one gets when one takes a course does give the info. Why is that info NOT in the main manual? (I won't get into conspiracy theories here ...)

I think a simple rule could be used when righting the documentation:

If there is a button in the software, there is an explanation and an example of use in the documentation. No assumptions, no exceptions.

Very few manufacturers come close to this standard.
