No that was not what I meant. During the classes there are enough time
for students to ask questions aswell as for the instructor to tell how
he/she usually goes ahaed doing certain stuff. Theese discussions
usually bring out a lot of the issues aswell as tips and tricks.

yeah, but if they can write those explanations into the 101/201/301
documentation, then they should be able to write them into the REGULAR
docs.
i know that it's a large system... i know that avid wants to support
their own and 3rd party educators, but the reality is that you can't
learn to USE the system from the provided 2000 pages of documentation.
you should.
i agree with jeff.

Jeff,
this is a problem with this kind of large system and this is where
the Avid 101, 201 and 301 education will help.
All the best

That is great. BUT ...
It is one of my great gripes about the documentation provided by
most of the major software vendors these days.
If you just read the DS doc provided when you receive the system you
will never know many of the details of what the software does. And
the details are where most of the power resides. The corner pinning
tracker is a good example. In the doc for the tracker, not all the
info needed to actually use the tool is present. The PDF mentioned
or the training manual one gets when one takes a course does give
the info. Why is that info NOT in the main manual? (I won't get
into conspiracy theories here ...)
I think a simple rule could be used when righting the documentation:
If there is a button in the software, there is an explanation and an
example of use in the documentation. No assumptions, no exceptions.
Very few manufacturers come close to this standard.
