Yes the Xpress Pro Media will work in DS but the problem is that Wozy want's to share one storage between the two systems. I use both systems but I transport media from the Xpress Pro to the DS when needed. A little bit of hassel but doable.

I've been thinking about Wozy's question. So I looked at the DS Conform guide version 7.01. It says that uncompressed OMFI can be shared between DS and the various other Avid products.

So really the best bet for the future is to get an Avid LanShare or Unity so

In a perfect world, yes :-)

Centralized storage solutions are becoming more commonplace every year, but IMHO it's worth asking a few workflow-oriented questions before going there, as present-day setups can be quite expensive. Also, altough getting better and better, the DS/Unity mix is still a tricky one with quite a few little limitations (some of them not so little).

If your pipeline is one-way and your number of editing seats limited... Naaaah.

My 2 cents (as the guy who wonders if we'll get a Star Trek future... :-) )
