Things to try;

If you create a stripe set with the available drives and then watch or
listen attentively you will find one drive not accessing routinely like
the others are.

You could also analyze the drives one at a time for errors or perhaps
just observing them during boot up to see which one comes to life last
might help.

Howard, I'm not sure how to determine which drive doesn't come up.
Windows
just reports that 7 drives are available for the stripe, when I go to
import
foreign drives. Is there a way that I can tell which one isn't coming
up?
