Hi Guys,
Thanks for the timely responses..... however... I have already checked the timecode sense setting, many times, and the machine template is for the 24 f setting.. thus I am still in the dark here.
And just to add yet more confusion to the issue.... the last time I tested a manual digitize, ie: setting in my own timecode in /out,  I ended up with 3 sets of timecodes....... one set for the window burn from the video... one set for the in / out for the clip... and one set for the in / out for the digitize tool.  None of them matched...... Now I am going to shut it down again, ... power down everything again... reset the card in the bob again... power down the F500 again... and load the shotgun... I believe slugs will do nicely this time...
One last question... I am currently slogging along with 1.5 g ram. Ready to dump in a bit more. Any recommendations on how much I should stuff in?

one other thing that always screws me up.

check to be sure you?re using the proper deck preset in DS.

it needs to be the HDW_23 preset not the HDW_29.

hope that helps.

Try menu timecode sense and make sure it is 24p if it?s at the right setting, force DS to read the LTC, maybe the VITC is a pulldown timecode.

Hope this helps!

Hi all,

I've been confused by this issue for a week now, so here goes.

Using DS v7.6

I'm trying to import a Final Cut EDL into a 23.98 16x9 HD project.

Final Cut project was HD at 23.98

EDL was generated from Final Cut as an EDL file

Final Cut sequence was digitized from DVCPRO tapes created at transfer facility at 23.98

DS tape sources are HDCAM direct from transfer at 23.98

EDL has only 10 test shots, video only, no audio

Audio will come in via wave file.

Using SONY HDW-F500 with 501, 502, and 507 converter boards.

no pull down signal is being used

sync into DS and F500 is 23.98

Here's the problem; no matter what setting I try on the DS or the F500, when the DS digitizes the material it ALWAYS seems to read the pulldown Timecode. One of the source tapes has burned in TC so I can check the timecode that the DS is reading with the actual timecode. There is no problem here. What the deck reads, and what the DS displays is what the burn in says it should be. However, when I digitize the clip, eithor manually or recapturing from the bin, the DS and the deck start mucking it up. What I will get is a clip that says it has the right timecode, but it will not match the burn in timecode. If I mark in/out on the fly it still screws up. For some reason it's "adjusting " for pulldown.

I've tripple checked all the settings on the F500, making sure that it is reading the 24f timecode, and tried about a dozen or so other ideas.... but now have run out of ideas.....

Help?
