1. The project GUID and the image GUID (top of the tape log) are supposed to be different? I never noticed this before.
2. Why all the extraneous tapes, clips, sequences in my Tape Library? Can I delete those or will it affect the project that they actually belong to?
3. I loaded clips from a Media Composer AFE into another DS project and they automatically linked to their media counterparts in a separate DS project. Is that normal? In this situation, if I want to archive the clips that I used (media in other project) and not archive the ones that I did not use, I simply delete the clips (metadata only) that I did not use. Is that right?
Thanks for your attention and patience.

Sylvain, my apologies. I'm on v7.6 QFE 2. My project has five :30sec sequences in it (four of which are nearly identical) and my archive is approx. 2 hours and 47 minutes. I also have a load of running footage clips that I captured directly into this project and have not edited into any of the sequences yet. And they don't pull up when I 'purge unreferenced' media. That also struck me as odd.
There are tapes in my Tape Library that only include sequences and clips that I didn't import directly into my project, I can only assume they came in with the few clips I imported (using import/copy media, not import/link) from other projects.
Maybe I'm overlooking something. The project I'm working in was created on v7.6 QFE 2 and the projects I'm pulling from were created on the same machine before the upgrade, v7.5 QFE 4.
Thanks!

There was indeed a previous issue where linked media from another project would archive all media files but this has been fixed since a few versions now. With DS v7.6, if you link to a single clip and media, archiving should only send this material to tape and ignore other media files from other projects. As for an option to un-link media, this is not possible, unless you manually move the media file itself outside of the storage.

Subject: Archive Trim Down and Tape LibraryI understand that when I import a clip from another project (copy media) it creates links to the rest of that other project's media in my project, hence making a large archive even larger. Is there any way to break the link of that other project's media that is not being used in my project to trim the size of the archive down? What if none of that other project's media gets used in my project? Is there any way to ditch the links of that media all together without affecting the other project? I have tapes in my tape library that I'm not utilizing at all, but I'm afraid to delete them from my project's tape library, because I don't want them deleted from their original projects. Is that fear founded?
Thanks!
