I'd do an archive as well, just in case software upgrades in-between.  You can restore the archive then drag the media onto the drives (or the other way around) and DS will see the media and link up to it.

Or, better still, use the file-based archive tool which was made specifically for the purpose. http://www3.softimage.com/DS2/right/download/utils/current/DSAB_Install.zip

.... yes you can - but - it´s not suported (i have done it a few weeks ago when i re-configured my video storage)

- and yes  - don´t upgrade your software until you open it the next time ....

Betreff: Archive Projects to Hard Drives...

Any see any problems with archiving projects to a hard drive.  My client has a HD project that?s about 500 gig and wants to bring in a cheap large storage hard drive.

Theoretically, couldn?t I copy the project folder and the audio and video sourcemodel folders (and of course any linked files) to that drive, the just copy them back to my DS system I the future and be up and runnin?
