Hello Bob,

Does that also apply to AVI v1.0, which is the AVI format that
DS uses? I had problems in the past when making 24-bit AVIs

Sorry, what I mean to say is that the AVIs that DS makes happen to have 24-bit audio in them... AVIs themselves don't "do" 24bit audio.

As far as I know, the AVI version doesn't matter, because the way it's actually stored in the AVI is just a generic chunk of data with a "type" code for the codec that should be used.. in this case it's just tagged as PCM (uncompressed). Then, there is a "number of bits per sample", and "number of samples per second" which tells it how the PCM data is formatted. AVIs are containers, like Quicktimes; The video data and audio data inside are dependent upon on having a codec to decode them, but for all practical purposes can be anything. There just is no built-in codec that understands the 24-bit PCM audio.

I think the main problem with AVI 1.0 would be the max filesize, and since DS always puts uncompressed audio in you could overrun your filesize on a longer show at 24/48k.
