I believe the normal cadance is 2:3:3:2 - the
advance is 2:3:2:3 which ain't right.

Nope, backwards.

Normal sequence is 2:3 looped foreverandeverandever.

24 "advanced" is 2:3:3:2 which was invented to be "easier" on the host computer to reverse because all you have to do is toss the mixed frames in the trash, instead of having to buffer several frames to de-interlace/re-interlace them back together.

24 advanced looks like hell when watching it with the pulldown left in it (because it's an irregular longer pattern whereas normal 3:2 is spread out more evenly), so it's meant to always have the pulldown removed to work with it at 24.

Hopefully DS v8 will be able to undo 24 advanced, it seems like an easy thing to do.
