I’m being cynical.
The truth is that the development Team of DS V8.0 has shrink
considerably and it won’t expand either in the near future.
Most of the resources have been diverted to Symphony Nitris with some
QA persons that used to be on DS.
If anybody from Management wants to acknowledge or state the actual
staff situation they’re welcome…..
But they won’t, this is not the Company’s Policy to publicly discuss
Employees status.
Now draw your own conclusions.
There will be a version 8, with some new features, XP 64 bits.
Version 8.5 or 9, time will tell.
On a more positive note: Guess who’s the big cheese now in Escalation
Support for DS?
Well here’s a clue: He’s from Montreal and we ALL love him, ok even
me, I like him….
Will he confirm this?

Great job BOB! You're the King of Presets!!! Thank you to share with
us poor mortals your knowledge.
/only there was a team of/
/developers working on DS..../
Well Tone, 2 persons in certain sport categories are considered a team!

Hi Bob,
I don't actually have any use for that preset myself, being in PAL
land as I
am, but I'd like to say THANK YOU :)
Now, if one person can make such a beast using standard DS effects
then just
think what a team of developers could do... If only there was a team of
developers working on DS....
Thanks again,
Tone :)

Because I am bored, I came up with a preset that will remove "24p
Advanced"
pulldown from a clip.. basically using a graphics effect with panels of
'clone'. It's not exactly a timewarp, you'll have to trim your clip's
duration down manually, but it's at least better than making 100 edits on
your clip to remove the flicker frames yourself!
You can find the preset at the DS Preset X-Change on http://mixeffects.com
Just apply it to your clip starting on a mixed-field frame, and it will
remove the pulldown from up to a 10 second piece of source material.
I only have one piece of 24pA footage handy right now, but I tested it and
it seems to Do The Right Thing.
