Its funny I just had this discussion with a VFX client last week. I found this video clip of a pumpkin shoot with a weird flame effect going on, In the end we decided it didn't look real as a muzzle flash.

Heres the movie we found.

I need to create a muzzle flash on the Nitris. The raw footage shot contains a guy holding a gun, pretending to fire it and it looks like they flashed him several times with a strobe light or camera flash. Do I need to buy keyable muzzle flashes (if so, where) or can I just create a muzzle flash using the graphics tool or some type of plug in directly on the Nitris? How many frames should each blast last? Do I need to add smoke? What color and shape should the flash be? Any pointers would be very appreciated!
Thanks,
J
