We don’t have Gefens, but our very old Cybex extenders used to have a problem with blinking screens, which the manufacturer solved by sending us little magnets to apply around the Cat 5 on either end. I still have them somewhere but when we moved our suite they weren’t necessary. Hope this helps…

No, both of ours seem to be solid in that regard. I'd check the power supplies on both ends, we had one end go and the other was still supplying power down the Ethernet cable- led to a _very_ hot power supply - and some strange color ghosting and monitor blackouts (but they'd stay out). Call Gefen- I've always had good response from Hagai.
