Bob, wouldn't a big Power cleaner not just a UPS but a unit that fully re-conditions the power
deal with that..? But then we are humid here too, in NC...

Has anyone had issus with their Gefens such as pops on the
audio and one of the screens going black for a few seconds?
We just got installed some CAT5-5000's and this is what I've
been dealing with.

This seems to be caused by static shock. We have 2 sets of these in adjacent rooms and in one room the console is made out of metal; When the operator comes in and sits down (or bangs the chair into the side of the table), it zaps something which gets back into the Gefens and *somehow* causes the screens in MY room to freak out. (CRTs will show a tiny little flicker but the NEC flat panels sort of 'reset', going black for a couple of seconds and then coming back). I also hear a pop in my RTS intercom box.

We've tried at length to isolate this, double checking that EVERYTHING is grounded, and have never been able to get rid of this problem. I have no idea why it's getting into the Gefens or how it's even travelling into my room! It drives me crazy when I'm trying work and my screens go black 10 times a day.
