on several occasions i have attempted to use HD footage in a SD sequence for the purpose of a "fake" camera move or
CU or repo. in every instance it has been soft. i would be very interested if anyone has achieved acceptable results.
i've always had to use DVEs to get the HD into the desired position in the SD raster. all of the DVE render settings
looked soft.

As far as I know, DVE does NOT do the RGB conversion dance. But then
how would you know? There is no grand list of what does or does not go
do that dance available in the doc. Every time I have asked for one,
the answer has been why do you need to know? (Shades of Quantel).
