David,
No worries, mate. We can agree to disagree. Like Russ
said, these are all opinions and I'm probably not going to change yours
and you're not going to change mine. Oh well, at least we're not
disagreeing about football or beer, the truly important discussions.
Last thing I'll say;
If I was planning on buying a basic DS, for 30% LESS - I could get a fully tricked out FCP suite.
If I was planning on buying a fully tricked out FCP suite, for 45% MORE - I could get a DS.
Given my view of the futures of both products, I'm not sure what I'd do
today. Of course, I haven't hit the Mega Millions Lottery yet, so
it's really a moot point. =p I'll use whatever my clients put me
in front of.
And, Dan, I really don't mean to rip on Liquid. I've been a
big fan of Pinnacle, especially their broadcast side of things, for a
while. But Avid is clearly marketing the Liquid line as much more
of a Prosumer level program, while Apple is marketing FCP as a
Professional solution. As to their actual abilities, I
think everyone knows where my bias lies...
Anyway, it's a very interesting time to be involved in this industry.
