Aw, it’s
like riding a bike. ;-) Getting
back on Media Composer is kinda confusing, now. JUDY -----Original
Message----- I
can see where it would be useful for the long form stuff you do. I have
to give you credit, I don't think i could even operate a linear room anymore -----

not DS... Well, we are a religious
cable network, and we produce our own series, lots of them. Sometime we need to add graphics, like
name bars and full pages with text, in post. Instead of digitizing 13 episodes at 28:30 per, adding
graphics and then outputting them back to tape, we just roll them down and add
the graphics real-time, in linear. Another thing done in
linear is tagging 'coming up' spots, with graphics according to the
schedule. And it's all in DVC-Pro or
BETA-SP. That being said, it's very,
very rare that I ever edit anything in linear, but sometimes one of the linear
editors is sick or out of town and I get some overtime. ;-) My job, well at least 99%
of the time, is making the opens, name bars, and credit beds to the shows we
produce. The DS has been great for
us because we really do crank out the shows. JUDY RANELLI EWTN 5817 Old Leeds Rd. Irondale, AL 35210 -----Original Message----- What sort of work goes into those rooms instead of nonlinear?, and
why? what sort of gear, back to 20 layers of digi-beta/D2 pre-read? -----

there are still going? -----

make all the changes you want.
Then we'll ripple the list, hit auto-assemble, hide our eyes and pray. ;-) What's funny
is when I do edit in a linear suite, I'm reflexively looking for the 'save'
button all of the time. JUDY -----Original Message----- I don't even want to get into H-Shifts. KEN -----

You got that right!! That's
how I punched a hole in a 1" master 15 years ago. Young and

have an undo button for my life. Murf From: owner-ds(at)Softimage.COM

i
can deal with that. then again, a linear editor does none of these things, they
just work when you push the button. no HAL errors, no rendering, or Drives
error. or capturing... |
